Our Story
We started the year with the "The path of 9 women towards body acceptance" in which the 9 women that were part of our 10th anniversary fashion show, shared their testimony about self confidence and body acceptance.
In summer we celebrate the beauty of all bodies with a Swimwear Fashion Show at the Chueca store, in Madrid. The 8 women who participated, selected through a casting open to all body types and ages, also illustrated the campaign #iamasummerdamadecopas who inspired other women to feel better with themselves.
In september we arrived at the neighborhoods of Benfica and Alvalade, in Lisbon, allowing us to help more women discover the right bra. And to get to all women who don't have the possibility to visit us, we created the Online Fitting, a free and personalized service, based on the experience of 11 years of face-to-face Bra Fitting.
In May 2019 we launched “Ana Rita Clara’s Choices”, a collection of Swim and Active wear by Body Glove selected by the Portuguese presenter and businesswoman. This campaign was based on a photoshoot on the beach in which the presenter showed the various looks chosen by her and, as a complement, a video and a catalog, where Ana Rita Clara presents the pieces of the collection.
We celebrated the 5th anniversary of Dama de Copas in Spain, with events in the shops in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia, and the 10th anniversary of Dama de Copas with a very special weekend in the shops in Portugal! At the Santa Justa shop, a fashion show was held with 9 real women selected through a casting open to all women, regardless of age, size or breast and body shape.
To end the year in a big way, we opened the 10th Dama de Copas’ shop, 6th in Portugal, at Av. da Boavista 346, in Porto! At the Open Day we presented the Autumn / Winter collection with 5 real models.
At the beginning of 2018, a new shop opened in Portugal, in the historical centre of Braga, at Rua de S. Marcos 68. With this, Bra Fitting reached another city in the north of Portugal!
The Happy Mom Campaign was launched, which brought together two pregnant women and a newly mom still breastfeeding in order to show that all women are beautiful and sensual, even during pregnancy and breastfeeding. In addition, Dama de Copas collaborated once again with the IMM-Laço Fund, which supports research projects in the fight against breast cancer. In this solidarity campaign, for each bra sold between October 1st and December 31st 2018, Dama de Copas donated 10% of the value to the IMM-Laço Fund.
Finally, we closed the year with the opening of our shop in Leiria (Av. Dos Combatentes, 10), a city in the centre of the country where we wanted to be present, and the opening of our shop in Barcelona (Ronda Universitat, 5), in a very central and touristic area in the heart of the city.
The year began with the bet on an unique service from Dama de Copas, the Bridal Shower. Often an integral part of bachelorette parties, it has become a service with greater prominence in Dama de Copas shops, prepared with VIP rooms to receive brides and friends in choosing the right lingerie for the wedding, wedding night and honeymoon, in a more intimate and fun environment.
In addition to these services, there was a commitment to growth and the Spanish expansion continued, to bring the right bra to more and more women, and two more shops were opened in Spain: the second store in Madrid, in the Chueca district, on C / Augusto Figueroa 31 and the first shop in Valencia, at C / Pascual y Genís 11.
This year also saw the launch of the 2018 Solidarity Calendar "United for the cure", bringing together 12 women in lingerie on a wall calendar and twelve postcards. This calendar aimed to support research projects in the area of breast cancer, making available the proceeds of its sales to the iMM-Laço Fund.
In order to respond to all women looking for its services and products, Dama de Copas opened its second store in Lisbon, in the Saldanha area, at Av. Fontes Pereira de Melo 47C.
Following the image of the previous year, the second lingerie show was organized at the Downtown shop in Lisbon, with the “Pin Up” theme. In this show 15 real women participated, selected through a casting.
Also this year, the campaign "My right bikini" was launched, aiming to show that all bodies are beach bodies and that there are suitable options for everyone. This campaign had the participation of 5 women of different sizes and bodies, where each wore their right bikini, tankini or swimsuit.
For the first time, Dama de Copas organized a fashion show in lingerie
at its store in Lisbon, with the participation of 9 women, selected
through a casting, with different sizes and bodies, showing different
types of lingerie. This was the first event of its kind, where real
women walked to show the right lingerie for each body type.
Dama de Copas expanded to Spain with the opening of its third shop - specialized consultancy became international and arrived in Madrid, at Calle Goya 64, to respond to Spanish clients who were already looking for Dama de Copas.
The study “The Bra Revelation” was also published this year, which showed, among other data, that 99% of women wear the wrong bra size, that 32 E and 34 F are the most frequent true sizes and that Portuguese women like of colourful and patterned lingerie!
In 2012 Dama de Copas changed the way it welcomed its clients – January brought Dama de Copas’ first street shop, in Downtown Lisbon, at Rua de Santa Justa 87.
September saw Dama de Copas’ first solidarity campaign coming. This campaign, entitled “Find the right bra and support Laço”, featured some well-known faces – Ana Rita Clara, Adelaide Sousa and Astrid Werdnig – and resulted in a €10.000 contribution to Associação Laço.
In October that same year, Dama de Copas opened its second street shop, this turn is Downtown Oporto, located at Rua de Sá da Bandeira 373.
In January 2010, thanks to the worshops’ success and only two months after the first Bra Fitting workshop, Dama de Copas opens its first shop, located in a floor of Rua do Carmo, in the heart of Lisbon. Margarida Furst and Inês Basek become the first Bra Fitters in Portugal!
This year also brought the first promotional photoshoot, the first press publication and the first appearance of Dama de Copas on TV. Dama de Copas began to gain more and more visibility, proving the need for this type of service, which did not exist on the market.
In early 2009, from a conversation between two friends, Inês Basek and Margarida Furst, the idea of developing a service that helped all women find their right bra size came up.
In September that same year, the blog www.damadecopas.pt appeared, the first in Portugal to educate women about the importance of lingerie. Soon after the company Dama de Copas was born, the first in Portugal with personalized lingerie consulting, and the Bra Fitting brand. This consultancy started with the first Bra Fitting workshop, held on November 5th for 5 women, in the same space that saw this idea being born – the Fábulas Café, in Lisbon.
